My Iranian Erasmus friend Leila, now living in Sweden, lately updates her facebook profiles with news links fron Iran. I asked her more info and she sent me some links and photos from the demos in Tehran, taken by her relatives. When I asked for a contact in Iran, she gave me the email from her brother in law, Babak (not the real name-for obvious reasons).
Babak, 34, an IT-engineer, voted for Mousavi and participates in every demonstration running in Iran since the elections day. I started chatting with him via gmail, he sent me some lately news from the demos front, but his connection was slow and broken. Then he kindly replied to my questions via email.
On Saturday, shortly before the bloody demos, he wrote «They told today will be bloody; If i could save myself and be alive at the end of today i will send u pictures» and then came back, on Sunday, with photos and videos to comment «Hi there, I’m alive, they didn’t try wild to top demos, they KILLED people. I think people will continue more, because they killed their children».

Below you can read the interview:

How is the situation in Iran one week after the elections? What is the clima in Tehran? Are there still demos?
During the last week , every day we had demos. A huge amount of people gather in main squares which are selected before and they walk on streets to a selected destination. Most of the people have green symbols and some signs about asking their votes. After Basij (militia forces) and police violence that caused some people to be killed, people are silent in demos and it doesn’t let the guards to attack. On Friday there was not any Demo and people were waiting for Khamenee’s speech , and know that he told he is in Ahmadinejad side, people are preparing for another huge demo on Saturday.

What’s the situation in the other stories? Do people also there participate in the “Green revolution”? Is it more dangerous there to have demonstrations?
Green revolution is raised all around the country, but in other cities governmental forces are repressing more because population is less there and also their communications are more limited and its hard for them to send their voices to the world.

How many people approximately participate in the demonstrations?
So so much, more than 2 million people, and every day this amount is increase.

What is your opinion for the demos? Are you a supporter of Mousavi?
Yes I voted Mousavi, In 1979 revolution people knew what they don’t want. And now people know what they want. And it is democracy.

How are the telecommunications? Can you use your mobile phones? Is it free to surf on the web?
Land phones are ok, but terribly situation for cell phones, since June 10 SMS service is shut down, and during demo time voice calls are shut down too. They have reduced internet speed so much and most of the sites are filtered, of course filtering web sites can not be successful because users can find new ways to by pass their filters. By the way people have some ways to communicate, twitter, facebook and email are very popular and useful tools on this purpose and arrangement for demos, also during demos people send news to each other face to face and arrange next demo position and time.

Are there any further info for the attack at the Tehran University?
It is the second time, some years ago when Khatami was the president , they attack at Tehran uni. They are known militia forces but they are in government side and there is no hope to catch them. During Khatami’s presidential time, he pursued them but judgment didn’t do anything.

There is an important online movement supporting the Green Revolution. Do you share it? Do you think it could help the situation in your country?
Yes of course. Greens have no TV,Radio and all of their newspapers are blocked or censured. Governmental broadcasting is for Ahmadinejad and Khamenee completly, but Internet is a space which they cannot get it completely in their hands. Internet helped us in two ways, the first one is for communication between greens, and the second one is sending our voices to the world, as you know they don’t let foreign reporters to go out from their hotels and send reports to the world, but you see a lot of people who have digital cameras or cell phones and capture views of what is happening and send them to the world and also some ones who are in another cities to be up to date.

In the end, what message do you send to those in the world who watch the facts and worry for democracy Iran?
We know if we want democracy we ourselves should try to get it and no one outside cannot give us. We want the world know Ahmadinejad is not whom we voted, we want the world don’t recognise Ahmadinejad as president of Iran. We ask the world to continue forcing Ahmadinejad to accept people’s vote, we want the world know it is a cope d’état government.
